Custom Gyms Ltd recently partnered with The Fundamental Body for a full-scale gym revamp, transforming their existing space into a highly functional and versatile training facility. This project was a collaborative effort, involving detailed planning and design refinements to ensure the gym's layout was optimized for both performance and space efficiency. Here’s how the project came together:
Step 1: Collaborative Design & Layout Optimisation
The initial phase involved in-depth consultations and design revisions to reimagine how The Fundamental Body's space could be better utilized. The existing layout was limiting member flow and equipment usage, so we worked closely with their team through multiple design iterations. The result was a completely reconfigured floor plan that opened up the space, improved workout zones, and maximized functionality without compromising aesthetics.
Step 2: Equipment Selection & Planning
With the new layout agreed, we carefully selected equipment that would maximize versatility within the space. Key choices included five back-to-back half racks for strength training and 4-meter wide astro turf strip was added as a functional lane for sled pushes, agility drills, and HIIT circuits. Every piece was chosen with space efficiency and functionality in mind to suit The Fundamental Body’s dynamic coaching style.

Step 3: EQUIPMENT REMOVAL & FITOUT
We began by removing all existing wall-mounted racks and clearing the gym floor for the new layout. Installation was carried out with precision, ensuring all racks were securely anchored and positioned to create optimal workout flow. The astro turf strip was laid down as a central feature, visually tying together the functional and strength training areas.










Step 4: Final Inspection & Handover
Before sign-off, we performed a full safety inspection and ensured all equipment was in working order.
Step 5: Post-Fitout Upgrade – Integrated Cable Squat Racks
Following the successful launch of the revamped space, The Fundamental Body chose to further upgrade their five half racks by integrating cable pulley systems. This smart retrofit significantly expanded the functionality of the racks, offering cable-based training without taking up additional floor space—enhancing member experience and coaching versatility.
